It has been awhile since I posted, too long in fact. That I am actually posting anything today is nothing short of a miracle, it has been one hell of a week.
I started my week by coming into work and finding that certain things on our new website were generating some strange errors when trying to edit content. After a bit of investigation it was apparent that we had been hacked.
Now, this was no grand hack or anything, it’s not like I work for a bank in the Cayman’s and have data on all sorts of illegitimate bank accounts or account numbers. No, all a hacker would be interested in on my servers is space, and thats what they attempted to take.
Turns out they used a well documented PHP exploit to gain easy access, and used poor permissions to try and install an IRC server as well as a Virus (Which I am sure was to turn my server into a Zombie on a Botnet). Needless to say, I jumped on it faster than a horny co-ed on a virgin.
What surprised me was that these vulnerabilities were included in the default install!!! You know it’s an issue, why do you distribute it with a gaping hole like that! I spent my week reformatting my server and re-setting up everything and plugging holes when I could have spent it surfing Cheezburgers and devloping erotic stories in my mind.
Cheezburgers and erotica? Yeah, I’m a warped and diluted individual, but that’s OK. My GF stopped by for lunch today, and after she left I started having erotic thoughts, which immediately developed into an idea for making money (Natch!). There is lots of good erotic stories out there, and I have written a few myself, but you rarely see erotic story books with pictures, unless you are a Playboy fan.
So I’m thinking, I do photography, I can write erotic stories…. why not put the two together and see if I can’t get some cash out of it! I am thinking of doing 25-50 short stories with 2-4 photos for each. They would not be implied nudes, they would show a bit more (Nipple here, some camel-toe there), but not enough to classify it as pornography. Maybe I should do a sample story with some sample pictures and see if I can get some interest based on that.
Maybe I am just building myself up as an erotic genius, maybe I am just crazy, who really knows. I know that it is worth some more mental exploration though. Start my week with hackers, end it with erotica…. hrmmm, what does that say about me?
