Forever Enroute

I sit and I think and I cry and I blink,
Stand and I shrink and brought to the brink,
Forgot in the dark, igniting a spark,
Hunt like a shark and cancel remarks,
Smoking the grass and taking a pass,
Act like an ass and coming in last,
Begin at the end, I’m left to contend,
No rights to defend and no way to transcend,
I stand and I try and I ask myself why,
Leave to defy and I bid you goodbye.

Chance of a lifetime.

Chance of a lifetime, adrenaline pumps,
Hands shaking a little as my chest thumps,
Hang up the phone, my throat has a lump,
This is my chance to prove I’m no chump,
Creativity flows, like water in spring,
Imagination at the table is what I can bring,
Hopeful, excited, but this is no fling,
Chance of a lifetime, it’s the real thing
Put my head down, put paper to pen,
Straight to the zone, switching to zen,
Have not been this excited since I dunno when,
A project like this may come never again,
Getting it done, and doing it right,
I wont retreat to the shadows without a fight,
They may not accept, I know that’s alright,
Chance of a lifetime that I’m going to ignite.

Mists of Relaxation

Darkness surrounds everything, the whispers of silence echo in my ears,
The flicker of life is seen dancing in windows, serenity consumes all,
The giggle of a child breaks the calm, a welcome retreat,
A smile develops in the corner of my mouth, the season of joy,
Breathe deep the freshness of the air, the scent of an unassuming life,
The hectic pace of the city enveloped by the peerless mountains,
Everything forgotten in time, worries blown into the wind, swirling,
Caught in an updraft, taken away, removed from the inner self,
Left behind in the dirt, moving forward into the mists of relaxation.

A loss to surrender by…

As the rage builds like an edifice in Dubai, the hydrants of happiness attempt to suffocate the flames,
An awkward balance like that of a wire walker, delicately moving along, keeping the mind in frame,
The mind twists and bends in an attempt to comprehend, pain consumes the host like wildfire,
Despite the onward looking, and the drive to surpass the evil, the relentless being grapples it’s prey,
Screams echo in the darkness, fading into the distance like a sunset swallowing the daylight,
A weary body struggles to remain standing, to forge ahead and proceed with the battle,
His energy is drained, his limbs are weak and burn with the slightest movement, he takes a knee,
His breath is shallow and hot, he lifts his head and looks around at the carnage that surrounds him,
A tear rolls down his cheek as failure annihilates his pride, slicing him deep like a knife,
He sees the disappointment on the faces of his soldiers as they lay their weapons to the ground,
With nothing left to lose, and shame coating him like rain, he falls on his sword, pain is no more…
